Dr.K.R.Gangadharan – Heritage Medical Centre

Dr. K. R. Gangadharan is one of the respected names in the Senior Care. He established Heritage Medical Care Centre way back in 1994, regarded India’s premier private geriatric health care facility. Karuna School of Nursing, Heritage Home Care Services, Kshetra assisted living facility for elders are part of the Heritage Trust that handles a wide range of senior health care services. Heritage conducts several short and long term courses on Gerontology in collaboration with the Government of India. It is accredited as the Regional resource Training Centre by the MSJE for Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.He served on the Board of Washington DC USA based International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing from 2001-2004 He served the Board of International Federation on Ageing (IFA) based at Toronto Canada for over a decade. He was the President (2012) and held the position till end of June 2014. At the invitation of the United Nations, specifically UNESCAP, he has presented many papers. He is the first Indian to be invited to speak at the White House conference on Ageing (held every ten years) in 2005.He was also invited by the Czech Presidency under EU to address Governments and civil society at Prague in 2009.He has been invited to talk in several countries in Asia, Europe, North America and Africa besides Oceania. He was invited to address as a panel member by the United Nations, New York in 2012 during the Open Ended Working Group on Ageing.

Recognizing the work he has done in the area of senior care, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) nominated him as a member of the National Council of Older persons, the highest body to advice the Government of India on framing and implementing the National Policy on senior citizens. He was also one of the four non-official members appointed by the Government of India to review and recommend revised policy for Indian Elderly in 2010. Besides this, Dr.Gangadharan has served as member of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State Advisory Council.
