Palliative care is a specialized multi disciplinary medical and psychological care for persons with severe or terminal illness. Usually palliative care focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of terminal illness and giving end of life care. Palliative care has both medical doctors and psychologists to work on the mental comfort to both the patients and their primary care givers.
Palliative care centers focus on providing relief to the patient and their caregivers through home visits, medical care and counseling. This is a very specialized activity as many times it will also involve counseling grief and bereavement support.
